About Us
We are a niche food law consultancy specialising in the provision of online CPD training to food law enforcement officers and online consultancy support to food businesses in the UK.
Over the last 22 years we have delivered training to thousands of delegates on topics ranging from Imported food Control to the conduct of Criminal Investigations on behalf of the Food Standards Agency, Food Standards Scotland, Defra and through our own programme of events.
These days our training services are delivered exclusively online through subscription to ABC Food Law Online PLUS.
Most of our subscribers are Environmental Health and Trading Standards staff working for UK local authorities. To view a list of local authorities who currently subscribe to our service CLICK HERE.
In addition we have many food business and independent consultant subscribers.
Please note that we do not offer any reserved legal activities as defined in the Legal Services Act 2007 and we are not authorised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. We do not offer legal services to the food trade.
ABC Food Law is run by Andy and Sharon Bowles and you can read about us below.
I qualified as a solicitor in 1999 having trained in a London local authority. Since then I have worked in local government, in private practice acting for local authority and public sector clients, and now as an in-house lawyer for ABC Food Law.
I am a qualified solicitor and hold a current practising certificate but do not conduct any reserved legal activities or provide legal services as a solicitor for clients.
I have worked in the field of food safety for over forty years and have held posts as Quality Assurance Manager in the dairy industry, Acting Head of Environmental Health for a London Borough and university lecturer for both undergraduate and post-graduate food modules.
I now author and deliver specialist food related training via our online training service.
I am a qualified solicitor and hold a current practising certificate but do not conduct any reserved legal activities or provide legal services as a solicitor for clients.
I am a Norwich City fan and together with Sharon and my son, Jacob, run "On the Stall City" a community shop located in the iconic Forum buiding in Norwich. As volunteers, increasingly concerned about waste in football, we sell re-purposed surplus Norwich City FC kit, training wear and leisure wear in aid of the Norwich City Community Sports Foundation.
