Restaurant operators fined after infestation
The operators of a restaurant which was shut down after a rodent infestation have been convicted in court.
New Shahi Spice, in High Street, Slough, was shut down on 6 February last year after the council obtained a Hygiene Emergency Prohibition Order from Slough Magistrates' Court, after finding a series of failures in food safety practices.
The council’s food and safety team brought a prosecution against the company and company director of New Shahi Limited, who were operating the business at the time.
The director Ryhana Akhtar and Pervez Akhtar, the Food Business operator, were held responsible for the conditions found at the time of the inspection.
Offences against New Shahi Limited were dropped as the company was sold and in different ownership.
Mrs Akhtar was fined and charged, totalling £2,050.
Mr Akhtar was fined and charged, totalling £5,000.
