Team Leader - Food, Health and Safety

About the Role

As a Team Leader, you will lead and manage a team responsible for food safety, health & safety, infectious disease control, animal establishment licensing, and public health initiatives along with ensuring compliance with food hygiene and safety regulations, conducting specialist and high-risk inspections.

Other duties include:

  • Support and develop team members through training, performance management, and professional guidance.
  • Advise and collaborate with internal departments, external agencies, and key stakeholders on food safety policies and enforcement.
  • Develop and implement policies, inspection programmes, and enforcement procedures to enhance public health.
  • Represent the Council at meetings, tribunals, and in court proceedings when necessary.

To be competent in this role it is essential that you have degree/diploma in Environmental Health (or equivalent) and hold a Certificate of Registration with the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) or equivalent. You will be required to have:

  • Extensive post-qualification experience in food safety and health & safety.
  • Experience managing/supervising staff and enforcing health & safety regulations.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and IT skills.
