Environmental Health Officer - Food & Safety

We are looking for a highly skilled professional to join our team, someone with a deep understanding of food safety and health and safety legislation, and the ability to ensure compliance with complex regulations. Whether it’s improving standards in food safety, ensuring food composition and labelling laws are followed, or leading thorough investigations, your expertise will be invaluable.

As part of your role, you will conduct detailed investigations, producing concise reports, and presenting findings to various stakeholders. Your ability to prioritise and manage your workload efficiently will help you meet deadlines while ensuring high standards of work. The role may require you to work some evenings and weekends, but flexibility and agility in your working arrangements will be key. You will also be required to travel across the Borough to conduct inspections and investigations, with the necessary equipment and resources provided to support you.

About you

To thrive in this position, you will need in-depth experience in securing or improving compliance with health and safety or food safety legislation, and ideally, have experience in leading complex investigations through to successful conclusions. You’ll be able to navigate complex legal procedures like PACE with ease, and your knowledge of environmental health legislation, as well as current issues and priorities, will ensure you're always one step ahead.

If you are a qualified Environmental Health Officer or Food Safety Officer who meets the qualification criteria of the FSA’s Food Law Code of Practice, we’d love to hear from you. Your expertise will allow you to communicate clearly and persuasively with service users and businesses, helping them navigate compliance issues confidently. Your ability to write clear, accurate reports and presentations will ensure that your work is accessible to all stakeholders.
