Senior Environmental Health Officer (Commercial Food and Health and Safety)
We are seeking an excellent communicator and problem solver to fill the role of Senior Environmental Health Officer. You will join a team constantly aiming to be at the forefront of health and safety, and food safety enforcement.
Broxbourne has excellent connections to London and the proximity to the M25 means the Environmental Health team is involved in a much wider range of activities than you would expect for a Borough Council. Broxbourne is a Council with ambition, and we focus on continuous improvement. To support this, we are seeking to recruit to the above post in order to help boost our team and provide further resilience.
Roles will include food hygiene inspections as required by the Food Standards Agency Code of Practice. You will investigate outbreaks of infectious disease, accidents, and complaints.
You must be an Environmental Health Officer and demonstrate the relevant competencies detailed in the Food Law Code of Practice for inspection of establishments, health certificates, sampling, import and export controls, reactive investigations, and have up to date Continual Professional Development (CPD).
The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in fluent English is essential in this post.
We have adopted the core values of Teamwork, Innovation, Effectiveness and Respect (TIER). The values and their underlying behaviours, demonstrate our commitment to providing excellent customer care, working in a joined-up way, showing respect at all times, and looking at innovation and forward-thinking solutions. We pride ourselves on recruiting, developing, and retaining staff who share this commitment.
We are committed to safer recruitment, safeguarding, and promoting the welfare of children and young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
The Council’s benefits package includes generous leave entitlement, a full training and development programme, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and free membership to the Council’s local leisure centres, which includes free access to gyms, swimming pools, fitness classes, racket sport sessions, a health suite and a range of generous discounts across other leisure and culture services.
